Savoury Quiche Pastry

Like the majority of recipes on this website , this was my Grandmother’s go to quick and easy pastry recipe. The amounts given in this recipe are enough to cover the bottom of a quiche dish, but you’ll need to double them if you want to use it for a savoury pie recipe.

As always the ingredients are staple cupboard items which were found in her kitchen as they are in any well stocked kitchen pantry. I usually add Olive oil to this, as I like the flavour it gives my dish, but you can use whichever oil you prefer or have on hand.

Once you’ve used this pie crust, it’ll fast become your go to pie crust as its easy to make, doesn’t need any standing time, and tastes really good but is mild enough to go with any  savoury filling.

I hope you’ll give this a try.

Enjoy

Ingredients

1 cup plain flour
1/4 cup Olive Oil ( you can use whichever oil you like)
1/4 cup cold water
Pinch of salt (around 1/2 teaspoon)

Instructions

1
Mix flour and salt in a bowl
2
In a separate cup mix the oil and water and whisk with a fork until they mix
3
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and bring together with a fork to start of with and your hands to form into a ball
4
Roll out your dough between two sheets of greaseproof paper and place into your greased quiche dish. Pierce the sides and bottom of the pastry with a fork and bake blind for 15-20 minutes.
5
Add the quiche filling and bake for a further 25- 30 mins
